Coaching Overview and Tips

INTRODUCTION:

Conor Casey is a top tennis player who like Paul, trained as a Coach in Tokyo with Hiroshi Miyamura at the famous Miyamura Tennis School and Miyamura Tennis Center before returning to Ireland and completing his Level 1, 2 and 3 Coaching Certificates.

Conor Casey is a Professionally Qualified Coach and has Coached for over 25 years in Ireland, England and Japan and is qualified to coach in the USA. He has won many Class 1 Tournaments and has represented Ireland Intentionally.
(All of that means that he should be good enough to help any of us).

Individual Lessons 40 Euro per hour



UPCOMIMG EVENTS:
Conor will be starting a Cardio Tennis Programme in Spring similar to aerobics and aqua aerobics programmes.. Classes are done with music to enhance rhythm, coordination and motivation.

COACHING TIP:
Everybody should make sure to warm up before and warm down after playing. This should always be done but even more so at this time of year. It will help to reduce the risk of injury; it will increase arousal levels and get you ready to play at a higher level. The warm down helps your body recover after exercise and is particularly beneficial if playing again that day or the day after.

RACKETS AND JUNIORS

Choosing a racket for your child is important. You would not buy a pair of shoes that would be to small or to big so likewise when buying a racket. Below is a guide to help you make the right choice.

Age: Racquet Length

0-4: 19″
4-5: 21″
6-7: 23″
8-10: 25″
10-12: 26″
12 up: adult size

TENNIS 10s: Tennis for Players Aged 10 and Under

The ITF recommend that players aged 10 and under do not train or play competition with a regular yellow ball on a full court, but instead train and compete with a Red, Orange or Green ball on the appropriate sized court.
Using these slower balls will help players to develop the most efficient technique, and to implement advanced tactics, that in most cases could not be performed using the yellow ball on the full court.
